Therapy Services

Young children and Parenting

My work with kids utilizes a client centered approach that incorporates play, talking, and art to meet children where they are and work with the strengths that lie within. Through therapy my young clients are able to:

  • Strengthen sense of self

  • Increase emotional awareness

  • process feelings about difficult events or dynamics

  • be fully seen, heard, and accepted

I also work congruently with parents and caregivers to help:

  • identify their child’s unique emotional needs

  • mitigate challenging behaviors

  • increase communication and connection with your child

  • create tools to support the parent-child connection

Adolescents and Teens

My work with adolescents and teens utilizes a client centered approach to create a space in which my clients are able to be fully seen, heard, and respected in an authentic and warm environment. Adolescence is a time where having the therapeutic space can be especially helpful as peer difficulties increase, parent-child relationships are tested, and stressors and demands begin to accumulate at a higher speed. It’s a privilege to be a safe adult that gets to be there just for them with no expectations, judgements, or pressures involved at a time in life that can often feel isolating and discouraging. Through therapy my teen clients are able to:

  • cultivate self-awareness, self-compassion, and emotional intelligence

  • process the difficulties of growing up

  • strengthen sense of self

  • heal from past pain and current conflict

  • learn emotional processing and coping skills that will serve them throughout the rest of their lives

Young Adults

Working with young adults as they graduate high school, navigate college, and navigate launching into the world is one of my favorite things to do as a therapist. The client-centered approach works well at these phases of life transition to

  • cultivate self-awareness and self-compassion

  • process childhood events and dynamics that may be contributing to present day difficulties

  • explore identity, self-concept, values, and goals for the future

Neurodivergence

I work from a neurodiversity affirming lens and believe strongly that so many of the struggles a lot of children and adults face are due to the challenges of having to exist in many systems that are not made for their neurotypes. My work is affirming, strength based, and relational in nature. I find this can:

  • help to heal past wounds from non-affirming care

  • help better understand how each unique brain works and how best to work with and not against neurotype

  • strengthen and affirm identity

  • help develop tools to navigate systems that are not made for ND individuals without masking or sacrificing sense of self

Grief and Loss in Childhood

Loss in childhood is a uniquely painful , tender, vulnerable, and often devastating experience to navigate for both the child and the family. I have had many years of experience and advance training in grief and loss and work with clients to help understand, embrace, and go through the process of grief as they learn to build lives and grow without their loved one. I also work with parents and caregivers to better understand the unique presentations of grief in children and how best to support their children while still navigating their own grief process.
